Dr. Angelic Muhammad and son, Donovan Muhammad,

Dr. Muhammad's journey has been one of extraordinary resilience. As a single mother, she overcame the trauma of rape, navigated the challenges of an autoimmune disease/ hypothyroidism, and refused to allow life's stigmas or setbacks to define her. Instead, she was determined to become an inspiration to her son while honoring the values of her parents. She even took Donovan to class with her while earning her degrees, ultimately achieving her dream of becoming Dr. Angelic Muhammad.

Together, mother and son embarked on a 90-plus-day journey around the world with one purpose; to learn how foods, herbs, oils, and cultural traditions could support mental health and hypothyroidism. Donovan, a musician who plays four instruments, an avid reader, aspiring chef, and passionate community advocate, became much more than his mother's travel companion. Along the way, he discovered his own voice, purpose, and passion through the people, cultures, and experiences they encountered together.

Their journey became far more than research. It became a story of healing, family, culture, laughter, faith, food, and self-discovery.

Inspired by everything they experienced, they returned home and put pen to paper. In less than eight months, they co-authored their first book together, a 300-plus-page literary journey that invites readers to travel alongside them through food, culture, mental health, life lessons, and the rhythms of the human heart.

Tonight, they are honored to share this beautiful work of art with you:

Connected: Cooking with Flavors Around the World – A Healing Journey.

Please join me in welcoming, for the very first time as co-authors, Dr. Angelic Muhammad and Donovan Muhammad!
